She went for her 2 month checkup and is in the 55 % for height, 25 % for her weight, and below 5% for her head circumference. Her head circumference at birth was 32 1/2. It is now 36. She measured 35 after one month and only 36 after the second month. I am concerned with her head growth.

I am thirty-The doctor is not concerned with either her height or weight, She was only 5 lbs 2 oz at birth (3 weeks early). The doctor is slightly concerned with her head growth-since it is below the fifth percentile. I am wondering if anyone has had a child with small head. As an ESE teacher, I start to worry about my daughter being microcephalic . I breast feed and am not concerned with her other measurements. She is growing fine other than her head, which there is nothing I can do to increase the head size.

Its normal. When my baby was young, his doctor told me that his body was above average for his age but his head was small. It didn't make him have a birth deffect or anything & now he is just plain healthy! Don't stress...

That's a bit more than 5% unless you're using a different unit of measurement...my daughter's circumference was 17 1/2 in and that was within normal range.

before everything, calvin is faulty. Breast milk does defend infant from particular issues, yet no longer the ailments that vaccinations hide. Secondly, they actually are not that undesirable. My son cried for under a minute and became over it. locate out the main remarkable dose of tylenol from the healthcare expert and supply it to infant 30 min to an hour before the photos. you need to use under the counseled dose in case you like, that's what we did considering we don't decide for to load him up with a good style of drugs. At 2 months my son became in basic terms a tad fussy and drained for a pair of day and a a million/2 after his photos. completely standard and non dramatic. He basically had his 4 month photos final week and aside from being pissed for a couple of minutes he had 0 area consequences. He never even have been given the low grade fever it is so common. some toddlers do no longer react fairly that properly, however the healthcare expert provide you lots of information on obtainable area consequences and such. additionally, maximum docs are prepared to split the photos up between quite a few appointments. some mothers and fathers experience 3 photos are too plenty unexpectedly, that's high quality as long as infant gets them.

My daughter's measurements have been ALL OVER the charts. My first daughter is as steady as they come and my second refuses to fit anywhere. She went from 50% percentile for weight to 5% to 25%. The doctors actually accused me of not feeding her at one time. She eats like a grown man though. Since you are concerned, I would go to a doctor and keep going until you find one that will address your concerns without ignoring them or belittling you.

Your best bet is to talk to your pediatrician to see if he/she is concerned about your baby's growth. It may be she needs more calories or that she's having problems with spitting up too much of what she's taking in and needs a different formula. Your ped or the nurse at the office can give you better advice, since they have actually seen you and your baby.

A good rule of thumb is that you want them to be in the same percentile for height and weight.

Seems like she weighs too little for her height maybe, but did the doctor seem concerned? If you didn't ask the doctor in the office, call the doctor back and have a chat. Tell the doctor you are worried. Maybe a specialist is indicated, but maybe not. Your doctor should be able to calm your fears or help you get the right doctor for your little girl. God Bless!

Not necessarily. If something were wrong your pediatrician would have mentioned it. I had the opposite thing happen with my second son. They showed a huge growth in his head between visits and told me that he probably had water on the brain, that he would be retarded, etc. I freaked out. Turned out the nurse measured wrong!!!! So it does happen. Maybe the one month measurement was off. That seems like a huge jump from birth to 1 month.

It sounds like the doctor made a mistake. I would call and talk to your pediatrician and ask. And the weight and height are *not* a problem, either. They're *both* within average--between 25th and 75th percentiles.

No! Babies need time to grow. You might not be eating properly to provide more nutrients in your milk, if you breastfeed. Besides, the nurses at the docs don't always measure correctly. The baby is only 2 months old, she'll need time to process and develop all of the systems in the body. Different babies have diff. measurements, its normal. Stop worrying!
