I am among the people that are called gothic’s.
And the meaning of "gothic" differs from the person who is being asked. To me it's a way of expression and how one chooses to see the world and among other things. And I also would like to know why people think its bad/evil. And if you ask any person who is Goth or really understands it they will tell people that doesn’t have any thing to do with the devil at all but on the other hand people who really doesn't understand might end up asking someone calls them self Goth/Darkwaver but say that she/he worships the devil and that’s what being Goth is all about. And to me those r bunch off mindless people who listens to Marilyn Manson and starts worshiping the devil because he sing about it. It just seems right after the Calumbine High School incident that the Goth/Punk subculture seem to really be getting a bad rap and it's really bugging the hell out of me. And I really think this organization called “Goth Against Hate” is really helping.

I actually like an awful lot of the people that are Goths, there's a healthy group of them where I lvie now and where i grew up some of my close friends became goths. I wasn't too keen on the music and persoanlyl the wardrobe while interesting wasn't for me but the people I hung out with a great deal.

I think it's meant mainly to be an expression for the modern world. Either it's a rebellion against carbon copies of designer labels by a "personalised" uniform of black so showthey are individuals and feel, they are not merely consumers. I have also heard they wear black because they are mourning the death of creativity and passion in the world that is becoming grey and devoid of expression. Although most goths I know are anything but sad they seem to have really good lives with good friends and are some of the nicest people I have met.

I'm not goth but I agree with you. I don't believe that Goth's worship the devil. There are some out there that do and I think that they need a lot of help. I really like to look at Gothic art. It expresses a lot. People need to lighten up on some goths. Not all of them are bad people. I know a goth and he is one of the nicest people that I have ever met. So I do agree with what you say. People need to lighten up. I'm Punk and people all the time tell me I'm Goth and that I cut myself. It bugs the heck out of me.

People who are "gothic" are some of the most open minded, creative, intelligent, and friendliest people I've met. It's true there are a few who give the goth culture a bad name, just ignore them.

I agree. Everyone's opinion of gothic is totally different. But, I love "gothic" guys, and I hate how my family always assumes that they worship the devil or are somehow a bad person or weird. They're just like anybody else, they just express themselves differently. I think they're cool people.

The Goths I met dressed in shades of black, muted white and grays.

The ladies looked a lot like corpses and the boys not much better.

They listened to dark, depressing music and spoke about dark, depressing things.

I nver felt they were devil worshippers, but did it more out of a desire to piss off their parents and hang with other like-minded people.

I think the Goth lifestyle is gloomy but no, I don't think you are satanists. I just wonder why you don't cheer up and go on a picnic in a daisy strewn field. HA HA!

Most of the goths I see just wear black and listen to depressing music. I don't really care what they do.

I don't think about it at all, and know doubly less about it than that. It's proponents seem starkly photogenic in some cases but are largely monochromatic. I couldn't build a live on an Edgar Allan Poe armature, myself.
