Because the world fears and hates what it doesn't understand. I am a Psychic and I am feared and hated because of what I am. I didn't chose to be born like this. It just happened to be that way.
The name "Wicca" has been associated with "Evil" for a long time and that is what people think of first. What 85% of the U.S. population doesn't realize is that there are good and bad Wiccan all over the world. They go by different names of course but they are there. Hell if you really what to get down to it there is good and bad in all religions.
If you really look at it who is more evil. The ones that live for the earth and mankind. Or the one that live for themselves and for nothing else like many religious folk do. They are afraid that your going to be right and they fear the other side. That is why they hate you. Because you have no fear. But I quote Bono, "The More You Believe The Less You Know." Now I have no idea if he was referring to God or not. But the quote fits in this case.

because they don't understand.. i don't think your evil.. i've only ever glanced at the wiccan religon.. and its very earthly and i like that.. seems like there is a lot of respect and appreciation for ones environment..
i think people think wiccan and witch and don't go past that and see what else there is.. (i'm not even sure myself hehe)

People often make generalizations about religions that are wrong.
A lot of people misunderstand the wiccan religion so they try to base what they think it is off of what they've seen in the media and what they think it is.
I suggest you teach people about your religion so that more people will understand what it is you believe and can relate to you more easily. It's hard to change people who make such awful assumptions about you, but if they begin to understand you, they might think twice about labeling you like that.

The fact of the matter is that we are all sinners and on our way to hell unless the Lord Jesus Christ saves us. Think of the "best" person you know or the most moral person. That individual is a sinner (broken God's commandments). You see man has a standard that is quite different from God's standard (perfection). We tend to think that people who do not steal, curse, kill, drink alcohol are "good" people. But that is not true. God says, "There is none righteous, no, not one." "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." These sins must be payed for and the payment is eternal damnation (hell). The Lord (Jesus Christ), determined to save some of these rebels, though none of us deserves salvation. When Christ entered the garden, He began enduring the ferocious wrath of God and when He said, "It is finished", He had paid the sin debt for those the Bible refers to as His "sheep" or the "elect". You could perhaps be one of those whom Christ paid the sin debt for. I do not know. The Bible says, "So then, faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God." Faith is a synonym for the Jesus Christ. So then, Christ cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God. hey cool im a wiccan too =]. people think we are evil cuz some ppl are stupied and think we worship satan when we dont even believe in him!

People are fearful of what they don't understand. Either be prepared to educate people about the true nature of your faith, or accept that a lot of people will judge you for it out of ignorance.
