Hi. I was wondering if anyone knows how to do this. I was going to record a song for my demo CD sometime soon, but ran into a few problems. I want to record a song that was sung originally by a small boy band in the 90's, but has been reproduced over the years (as demos) for many other artist. How do I go about doing this? Will I run into any legal troubles? Do I have to buy the copyright? All help is appreciated!

You'll want to obtain permission from the copyright owner. You can find out who that is here: http://www.copyright.gov/records/

Before contacting them, you may want to seek the advice of a copyright attorney. Any agreements and/or contracts should, at the very least, be reviewed by an individual experienced with copyright law.

I also posted some links that should assist you further. Hope that helps! Best of luck to you with your music career!
