my friend girl has been having sex with her best friend for as long as he's been in a relationship with his girlfriend. she recently told me about it and asked for my opinion. i told her she's willfully accepting the title of "the other woman". she got mad and told me that i just don't understand the bond she and her best friend have. i don't disagree there, but was i wrong for saying she's the other woman?

I'm guessing she sees herself as THE woman. If they are keeping this a secret then she is "the other woman." If things are open and cool then she is not. Tell her you are going to ask his girlfriend what title she thinks your friend should have.
