Having been at ground zero on 9/11 and had several friends there
that movie sickens me .
Nichloas Cage is a comic book charector why does Hollywood feel they have to romanticize everything it sends the wrong message to people who were not there and have limited knowledge of what actually happen ...the media has sunk to an all time low theres nothing wrong with flag waiving and hero worship
but when is enough enough? Prapoganda at its highest .
What i recall from that day was a handlefull of responders stealing watches off of bodies and the chinesse boot leggers selling" i survived the twin tower with in 2 hours "t shirts b4 the smoke even settled.
and them turning my college B.M.C.C into a mash unit
with beds set up for bodies that did not show up .
F**CK Hollywood and their lies and white wash of the truth .
People died so these guys could turn a profit and put that garbage on the big screen.....
What about what took place in Washington Square Park

there were people running around saying the world was ending, crack heads kept getting high they could have cared less.
a friend of mine had to go to work still because he worked for a communications company he stepped over bodies to get to his job & he was laid off 3 days latter
at that point i realized the Government could stop drugs in this country if they wanted too .because if you ask any drug dealer in NY they will tell you it was a drought for about a week.why because the ports were closed ,and airline trafic was stopped and securitty was hightened.
theres not goint to be a movie about those things just superman tear jerking crap from

I asked the same question. I totally agree and my father was there as well and said that alot of stealing was going on. If I lost a family member that day I would be so upset and at least try to sabotage this movie. Americans believe all the lies and actually will see this movie thinking they are supporting their county. I live right outside NY and I don't think most people in my area would see it.

I wouldn't call it a comic book, but there were good deeds done that day, and the actors, studio, and producers are trying to turn a profit by telling a story people want to hear. Some may know nothing of the real events of that day, as you say, but that does not mean it is not worth doing. People will be offended at how some things are portrayed, while others will be upset at things omitted, but that does not mean the movie should never be made or released. Is it profiteering? Yes. Is that all it is? No.
Did you complain in the weeks after 9/11 about how many specials were on cable TV about the history of the Twin Towers? That could be seen the same way, but people did not complain then, so you may be overly sensitive on this issue.
In addition, your post seems to wander and rant a bit, as you go over the actor's skills, and then delve into the government's role in stopping drug use, and then back to 9/11 and how some people acted horribly in the days after it. The sad fact is that any crisis, be it 9/11, the war in Iraq, or Hurricane Katrina, will magnify the actions of people, both for good and for ill. It is human nature, or perhaps the American Spirit, that seeks to venerate the good, and either eliminate, or overlook the ill.

I was also there and what I saw in person I never want to see again especially on a big screen... you can never capture what the nation went through.. and the countless suffering.. and no amount of money or acting can portray it. The only good that can come of it is where the proceeds will go and that better be to the families, vicitims and people who lost loved ones, employment a way of life that day..... I will never forget millions of people screaming, crying .. dialing.. redialing cell phone numbers, job numbers that were never answered... I will never forget the fear of my close friends who happend to look like they were from the middle east get spat on, kicked and had to hide in their homes for weeks... friends lost. Sadly though we knew it would come to this... and before you know it will be made for TV... I'll skip it as we've already lived through the original nightmare.

The same thing happened in 1941. 60 years later they made Pearl Harbor with Ben Affleck. The World Trade was just as gruesome a day, but I think it's too soon to be making a movie of it. I say they should wait till they at least catch/kill Osama.

I agree you 100%. F*CK everyone who believes the B*llsh*t story that our media continues to promote. Until Americans wake themselves up and seek out the truth which involves our own leaders, America is doomed.
Hell, we're doomed anyway. How can a people allow it's leaders to slaughter people of other nations that have nothing to do with us or our problems. You know there are people that call themselves Americans that would support the Nazi Bush no matter what he does, they don't care they need someone to look up to right or wrong, Nazi's all of them scum of the earth.Nazi's.

I have not seen the previews for this movie. There is NOTHING wrong with flag waving patriotism. If it is a problem with you, fear not: you still have Farenheit 9/11 which has been proven to be some of history's best propaganda.
Let us people in "flyover country" have something to cling to. Maybe we weren't there, but we do like to see our heroes remembered.

i will probably see it just to see what it's like. i actually thought the makers of Flight 93 did a good job of putting the occurences of the day into a whole new light with very little hollywood romanicizing. i just hope that this one does the same, but knowing oliver stone, it'll probably be a little weird.

No but see Alex Jones on CSPAN at 3:10pm western time today, 40 minutes from now. See if you can dispute the claim that thermate explosives were used to cut the metal.

I'm sorry that you had to be there for that tragic day. I have no intentions of seeing the movie, or any movie made about that day. I agree, too many people are trying to make a quick buck off of the events that happened that day and it sickens me.

Yeah I think it is too soon for a movie like that and that it is in bad taste. The only good thing is that Oliver Stone is directing it and he wrote one of my fave movies (Scarface) and directed another one (Any Given Sunday). So we'll see, but I probably won't see it.
