Well, since you don't condone piracy, you've got a problem. That suggests you probably don't condone other versions of illegal activity, such as violating the End User Licence Agreement you are bound to by owning and operating a PSP. That prohibits you from modifying their code in any non-officially sanctioned way.

Currently, there are NO officially sanctioned ways to change your PSP operating system to anything other than the latest version, which is 2.8.

So you've got two choices. Overtly violate the law and put your trust in some cracker somewhere who may have a way to downgrade your operating system (or may just install spyware and other stuff on it), or just give up on the idea and stick with official Sony stuff however sucky it may be.
