My day is filled with classes, clinicals, my husband and two teenagers, and trying to work part time. I know finishing this degree will not only make me happy, but be more financially secure. The problem is trying to make ends meet now. What can I do that could help supplement our income? Any suggestions?

Stay in nursing school. Nurses are in high demand and you'll end up making decent money if you hang in there. Check in with your financial aid office and apply for a low-interest student loan... and then make a budget plan for paying the loan back once you've got that degree.

Ideas to cut your every day budget:
Get rid of either the cell phone or the land line
Cancel newspaper and magazine subscriptions
Increase the deductible on your car and home insurance
Turn down your thermostat a few degrees
Cancel cable
Vacations are out for now
Use the library (free dvd's and books)

Take care and good luck!

Bankruptcy would only mess up your chances of a long term financial stable future. Chances are, there is someone in your city/county who can advise you where to get temporary help. If your spouse can get a part time job, I'm sure that would help too.

I would involve the financial counsler of your school.

Being older and a mother, you qualify for certain programs from federal institutions. From anything from zero interest loans to grants.

Most colleges and universities offer programs to help older students.

LOL...I'm not calling you old.

maybe it is time for your husband to seek another job to supplement his current income and your teenagers might possibly be able to find work also.

Start with your true expenses vs. what you actually spend. You'll find quite a bit in there to put toward the bills.
