How much is too much? How high do you think it can go before a boycott starts?

I would pay what they ask but if it went over $5 a gallon would curb my driving to the bare necessities. Some have already given up their cars bought a bicycle and gotten jobs closer to home even at a reduction in pay because they still have more money as they no longer need gas, maintenance, and insurance. If they need to there is always public transportation for longer longer trips.

I don't think there will ever be a boycott. Too many people are too dependent on their cars. And despite the high gas prices, I know people who are still buying SUV's and trucks that guzzle gas. I wish that people would have a boycott though, or start looking at alternative fuel sources. If it's close enough I usually walk, but I know people who will get in their car to drive a block, that's how dependent many of us are on our cars. I even have a friend who will leave one store, go get her car, and actually drive to the store right next door, it's a matter of only a few feet! Unfortunately, she's probably not the only one who does this. I'm not sure how high I would be willing to pay for gas, I'm about at my limit now I think.

When I was poor I paid 50-cents per gallon and made 2-bucks an hour.

Now I make $100 bucks an hour, so maybe $25 dollars a gallon would still work for me.

I think $4.00 will push it. There are so many people who earn minimum wage and if gas gets much higher it will defeat the purpose of driving to work when all they are doing is making money to pay for gas to get there. I can't imagine what they will do for food and to pay their other bills.
