What you really are looking for is more buying power for your work hour. I wish raising minimum wage were the solution.

The cost of living is going up to pay for these stupid wars we are having. The sad thing is that the richest people in the world are the ones beefing both sides of these wars for reasons I am not going to go into here. If the (foreign owned) federal reserve bank were to stop making money out of nothing to disguise the cost of the wars we are having, we wouldn't need to worry so much about minimum wage. Supply and demand laws would take care of it. But as it stands, the more money made out of nothing, the less it buys per dollar. You can't make something out of nothing that is worth anything, financially speaking.

Moloko learn how to use spell checker and to put your links in properly. No the minimum wage will not raise the inflation because the inflation is raising faster than the minimum wage. The inflation will go up if the gas prices will rise. The minimum wage going up will not have a major impact on inflation.
Also rising costs of fuel will run the prices of products higher and that will put middle class into the poverty status quickly, and make the gap between rich and poor even bigger.
One thing to notice is that taxes don't go to the major but to the city so anybody saying such a thing is very ignorant.
good luck

This is too the guy who said liberals want to raise minimum wage. opednews.com/articles/opedne_frank_j__060728_rigid_republicans_fl.htm
Read this. It is being presented by republicans.
And to the girl that was talking about the westside. Mayor dale is vetoing the big box law. He does not agree with that.
As for answering the question, it is all simply economics. A lot of these company’s profits are going up, if they are not going up it will affect the business. But the belief is that by raising minimum wage, it will balance the growing energy cost. If the minimum wage goes up, so do the big salaries and the cost of some goods. Right now cost of goods is going up, but not pay. So it keeps it balanced. Really all you want is a balance economy. That should work for a couple years.

If you are talking about the Chicago Big Box minimum wage, it will have no macro-economic effect, because it only MIGHT effect a few thousand employees. However, it will keep jobs and sale's tax revenue out of Chicago's tax base.

That law's sole purpose is to have those store's employees paid enough to be able to pay union dues. So, the law won't benefit the employees, but the union leadership.

As to the Federal minimum wage, it will also most likely have no macro-economic effect, because it will not affect any significant portion of the work force. However, it will have a negative effect on those who are actually impacted by it.

More food for thought......

make mandatory minimum wage increase.
organizations don't like it.
force the organizations out of the city...say to the suburbs.
low income wage people move out of the city to be near their place of employment.
west side is cleared out.
building demolition ensues on the westside.
yuppies buy up property....move back in.
daley raises taxes.
daley makes more money.

hmmmm. i know daley said he was against it....

but....

just food for thought.

don't know, but my concern is that it'll cost employers more money to hire someone, I wonder if unemployment will get worse because no one is going to pay those wages, and would rather stretch and burden currentl employees

Hey,
Why don't they cut all the big wigs salaries
(CEO, CFO, VP'S & ASST.VP'S ) down to 30,000.00 and see what it's like living near poverty. I bet you will have some changes then.
