My Sister and I are flying from Gatwick to Venezuela and are spending a day and night in The Gatwick Travelodge near Horley. Is there any decent shopping facilities or any points of entertainment nearby that we should visit (We are going in November so no swimming pools or beach trips lol!!!)? We don't really want to be stuck in a hotel for a full day and night. How far away is central London from here?

It is 30 -45 minutes to central London on the train that departs from Gatwick Airport station, you have a choice of the Gatwick Express which takes 30 minutes to Victoria, or up to 45 minutes on the Southern Trains to Victoria or the First Capital Connect to Blackfriars/Farringdon/Kings Cross - all of these stations connect with the tube.

Suggest central London has better shopping than Horley :)

Take the tube to Knightsbridge, Picadilly Circle, Primrose Hill (very chic), or Covent Garden.
