Get a wireless router and card for each computer. This will network them, but you will not get internet services.

It can be done, and if you have at least one pc running windows XP, it's pretty easy. For novices, XP provides all the info you need to know.

Click on Start > Help & Support
In the search bar, type in 'home network' and hit enter.
Once you get the search results, if you click on the walkthrough link, you will get more information than you need to learn how to set your own network up. Read to learn what you need to know on the first screen, and continue on by clicking the links at the bottom of each screen to cover more topics.

If the walkthrough doesn't answer all of your questions, you can always go back to the search results and choose another option to get more info. You should be able to find all the help you need.
Good Luck!

You could connect all three computers wirelessly (ie. share folders / files)
or
I recommend buying a wireless hub / router / switch. You might even want to buy a network drive. It's more secure & convienient that way.

Well, you can direct connect them using a hub (not a router) or you can directly connect them with a CAT5 (I believe) cable. If you get USB to connect, I believe they're a special (2 way) cable.
