Bush's greatness is often misunderstood. He is great not because he showed America how to react to 9/11 but because he showed us how to deal with a still bigger event--the end of the Cold War. The collapse of the Soviet Union in 1989 left us facing two related problems, one moral and one practical. Neither President Clinton nor the first Bush found solutions--but it's not surprising that the right answers took time to discover, and an event like 9/11 to bring them into focus.

I think you have missed the point. Bush is not the leader of the world even though your delusions may lead that opinion.

I would say that a free world does not have one leader, it is formed of democratic and free processes from the ground-up and not dictated from the top down.

Have a search for 'direct democracy' as opposed to 'representative democracy' to understand the differences.

Here is an old English saying to give you the jist:

"Power is best like muck - spread"

well, he was voted in cause he thinks god talks to him, he is in favor of big business to the detriment of the country's health, he is against gay marraige and against any form of abortion, but is for the death penalty and thinks that any punk off the street should be able to buy automatic weapons. I think that these are just stupid sick things to choose a leader of the free world for. He is a politician thru and thru, insider hardly describes it. I think a cross between rumsfield, george bush senior, al gore, ross perot, and a little bit of bill clinton would make the perfect leader, good luck with that.

"Leader for the free world" ... that implies that the free world elected him. He, more or less, self appointed to represent the "free world". As far as we know, noone out there elected him.

Seriously, someone with a humanitarian background would be much better at reconciling and bridging gaps between people of different colours and backgrounds.... I'd vote for...

Mother Theresa, if she was still alive.

Who knows who is an able Leader! Someone who is capable of shouldering the burden with dignity, honesty, grit and who has understanding and respect of other peoples beliefs and culture. Someone who commands respect from world politicians and a person with integrity and humility.

Like I said there is no one out there, no one like Baroness Thatcher that is. She had her short comings but she has shown that this bunch of tossers are amateurs by comparison.
