Practice makes perfect. The easiest way is to take the corner of your eye with your finger and pull it to the side like you're making "asian eyes" (no offense to asians!) and then you have a flat, straight line to apply the liner. Start at the inner corner of your eye and go outward. Don't go all the way into the corner though, put one finger right against the crease of your nose and that's about how far away from your nose you should start. You can put it on your bottom lids too by pulling the skin down a little bit. Don't use too much though or it can bring out any bags you have under your eyes when it starts to smear. It's also not good to have the liner get inside your eye socket. I reccomend getting a pencil liner. It's much easier to use, less messy, and easier to clean off. I use Jordana, you can get it at CVS for 99cents or something. It comes in plenty of different colors though, but stick to dark brown or else it might make your eyes look too dark.

It's also very important to clean the eyeliner off at the end of the day. Do NOT sleep with eyeliner or mascara on because it will build up under your eyelids and can cause an infection. Believe me, it's not fun. I've had conjunctivitis 3 times. So invest in a good make-up remover, or even just soap and water can work.

Do you really need eyeliner at 12 anyway though? Make sure it won't look tacky or make you look like you're trying to look like the "older kids" before you start usinga lot of make-up. That will just make you look like a follower. I didn't start wearing make-up at all until I was about 14. If you do want to use it though, go lightly!! Too much make-up can look SOO bad! You don't want to look like Mimi from the Drew Carrey show. And also, if you're using make-up on your eyes, don't use anything on your lips (except maybe clear or lightly colored gloss). You can't accentuate both your eyes AND you lips or else it looks like too much. Focus on only one feature at a time (eyes, cheeks, or lips, not all).

12 is a fine age for eyeliner, as long as you aren't trying to do professional looks or evening looks, you're fine to experiment. More power to you sweetie. Practicing now will help you improve in the future.

Take a good quality eyeliner pencil and with your free hand pull the skin by your eye to the side, making your eyelid flat and smooth, not too much or it'll hurt, then draw a thin line as close to the lash line as you can get.

For the bottom lid, pull it down slightly so the skin is exposed wipe that with your finger to dry it off, then run the pencil over that skin until it's been completely darkened. Make sure you get the waterline too.

Just don't try too much make up yet, it will mess up your complexion if you overdo it.

Well, first buy a nice, cheap eyeliner. NYC Classic Brow/Eye Pencil is about 99 cents and works great! First, gently pull down the outer corner of your eye that is closest to your ear. See the little wet line above your lower eyelashes? That's called your waterline, and that's where you're going to put the eyeliner. Take the pencil and make small, thin strokes on the waterline, moving your pulling finger closer and closer to the inner corner of your eye as the pencil goes closer, too. It helps if you open your mouth, too, so you don't blink and ruin it. It will take practice, but in the end you will turn out with well-defined eyes.

EDIT: And to the girl who said people who wear eyeliner are "emo freaks", do what's good for you and just shut up! How old are you? Obviously, your level of maturity is very low that you have to be stereotypical of the way people think and live. Have you ever even thought that maybe just because someone wears eyeliner doesn't mean they are "emo"? Or that because someone dresses in Hollister doesn't mean they are a "prep"? Get over yourself, for your own good! I'm sorry if I offended anyone but I just hate how people get these stupid little thoughts in their heads.

With all due respect, you're still a bit young and don't grow up too fast. You don't need it yet, I started in high school, but in middle school the boys are still immature and not worth it at all (the real amazing guys come in highschool <3), and you don't want to seem (to older kids) like you want to be older. But if it's really as unoticeable as you say, then (like others have said), what's the point? BUT i will say that wearing a bit of eyeliner can boost a girl's confidence, even if its not a lot. We all want to be pretty =) I know you're probably going to still want eyeliner, but just keep in mind, don't go overboard, like if you get eyeliner dont slowly ask for more makeup so you'll cake urself eventually 0.o Uhm, do i make sense? (sry english is suuuucking today). And makeup ruins your skin if you don't kow how to apply and take off correctly. I hope you make the right choice, and haha verry early happy birthday ^^

What i do is rest your the arm that you are applying the eyeliner with on a flat serface. After you put Mascara on... Using liquid liner (Maybaline works best cuz it's not an actuall brush, it's a pen like sponge) Run it very close to the lashes... It takes some time to get it right but once you got it, It looks great!

Well I'm 14 and I learned how to put eyeliner a year ago, first of all don't put it under the eye, put it on that little line under the eye. Just put your finger under the eye and pull down then start moving the pencil side to side on your eyeline.

I'm 12 too! Oh my god! Okay, what I do is take a mirror and put it up very close to see the eye and then put on eyeliner.

Try this: On each upper eyelid, draw three dots (one on each end and one in the middle) and then connect them by drawing a line between them. This helps if you don't have a particularly steady hand! Also, practice makes perfect so don't forget!

ok first pull your bottom eye lid down (like your doing a scary face) and then take the pencil and rub it on the gooey thing (but dont put it to close to your eye, or you'll get it infected) just repeat this on the other eye. i started wearing eye liner when i was your age too! hope it helps!!
