I live in Cleveland would it be worth it to travel up there or maybe to Washington, D.C.?
Could you spend a week at either, I know Washington, D.c has more. Which one's better?

Yes, I was there last summer. There's a town called Traverse City. Right along the water. Lots of things to do there especially with the theatre shows. We also went to Macinawk Island. You take a ferry over. We drove a horse and buggy and walked around to all the shops. Had a great time at a Yacht Club called the Pink Pony. Very beautiful island. I've never been to D.C so I couldn't answer that part for you. But Michigan was well worth the trip.

I hear Upper Michigan is gorgeous but I've never been there. Lots of lakes, fishing, boating, hiking from what I hear.

I grew up in the Washington DC area so I know it pretty well. It's definitely got a lot to see. All of the Smithsonian museums are wonderful, you can easily spend hours in any of them. There are a lot of monuments in Washington also. Plus if you can manage getting tours of the Capitol building or any of the other government buildings in DC, it's really interesting. Just be prepared for lots of security. DC has a lot to see though.

Overall: Comparing DC to upper Michigan is like comparing apples to oranges. DC is a city, upper Michigan is rural. So if you want a relazing vacation, or are into fishing or any other outdoors stuff, then Michigan is nice. But if you're into history or cultural stuff then go to DC. But both sound like good destinations to me.

Beatiful place.
If you like the outdoor, camping, hiking, fishing, etc. you will be in heaven. There is also Macinac Island right where the bridge crosses from lower to upper Michigan. It has resorts, an old 1800's era fort, and the entire island has banned motor vehicles. You get around on bikes and horse drawn carts.
