With this camera I am able to capture still pictures onto the computer, but am unable to capture the video. I have an exterior DVD burner that allows me to hook the camera up and run the video through that onto the computer, but when I hook the camera up directly to the computer through a USB cable or an S-video cable, the computer will not recognize that the camera is attached. I have a new computer running windows XP.

You need to use firewire for video. The camera has one and your computer will need one too. You van use Windows movie maker to capture the video.

Typically video goes through firewire - you might want to look to see if you have the connection. Did you FOLLOW the instructions????? Have you got USB 2.0 running - wouldn't work with 1.1.... If it's not a MS Driver - you might have to install the Driver from the CD. Don't know if Sharp is on the Vendor list. If you don't have a CD for the camcorder - you should see if there's a driver at the Sharp site. You also may want to ask the question right at the Sharp site. I don't think the problem is with the computer..... just the connections. One more thing - is you don't say how much memory you have.... if you have a new XP with 256 mgs of ram - that video camera probably won't work anyway. It is very ram oriented. When I was at the Dell kiosk, we always told people they needed a gig of ram and a really good video card if they were going to connect their videocam.
