I know many people say that is an old wives tale, but with my first son I got the urge at 8 months to redecorate my kitchen. I wallpapered and painted and did raise my arms above my head many times. He had to be born by emergency c-section because the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck twice. It may be a huge coincidence, but I have been extremely careful with my subsequent pregnancies (pregnant with # 4) and so far no more problems.

If the baby is in the right position and you are repeatedly reaching over your head there is a chance but that chance is there with everything. The biggest thing to worry about with reaching and advanced pregnancy is to remember your balance isn't what it use to be and you can fall a lot easier.

Yes I have heard that before. When I was pregnant I tried not to raise my arms above my head. Whether its true or not I do not know. I kind of believe it though.I'd rather be safe than sorry!!

That's one my mother told me - but no - it's an old wives tale with absolutely no basis in fact! A baby's movement has little to do with our own - although my daughter just loved to kick and wiggle whenever I'd settle down into bed for the night...
