Yes it is the same as the Nigerian Lotto scam. If you do try and cash it the bank will call the police and you will be charged with fraud. No joke.
You need to call your local police and have them come and make a report on. For goodness sakes do NOT deposit it into your bank account because the perps will get your banking account infomation and then they will take you for all of what is in your account!

It's 99.99% certain to be a scam, especially if you never actuallly played a British lotto. If you really still hope it's legit, take the check to your bank, and try to deposit it. They will tell you if it's a scam or not. Do not send money or personal information to anyone connected with it.

If you did not enter the British Lotto, then it is most definitely a scam, and even if you did enter the lotto it is probably a scam

do you have the ticket that you have bought from that Lotto?
if so, check the numbers and if they are the same, you can take the money but if you have not played that is scam.

Try to cash the check and you will know for sure.
I bet they will ask you for some payment before you can cash it and that is a sure sign of a scam.

go to the bank, encash it, if the teller gives you the amount it is true, congrats, if not it is a scam.
