You only have to look at the melting of ice in Alaska to see that global warming is a reality. However, the heat we are experiencing now is not related to global warming. It's just another very hot summer.

Weather was not always as predictable as it was in the last 50 years. It varied much more before that. Then about 50 years ago, it started into a pattern that made it pretty predictable. Now, that cycle is ending and we are in another time of unpredictable, unstable weather.

But global warming is real and will mean a gradual warming of the earth's temperatures
over the decades that will have very dire results.

If you believe that global warming has occurred, then by definition any weather we have now or in the future is affected by it. Since weather is a complex statistical phenomena, there's no way to say exactly how many degrees the thermometer on my porch is reading higher at this instant due to global warming, but most scientists say that global warming is making it read higher on average the year round. Weather extremes such as hurricanes are being accentuated by the increased temperatures and the rise in temperature of the oceans. Don't worry too much though, you can always wait for night time to go outside.

Maybe, it's been 100, 100+ for about 5 days now in Missouri, there have been 12 people die in St. Louis from heat, because a big storm came and the power got knocked out. It's pretty bad. I haven't made up my mind about Global Warming yet, but with the ice caps melting, and record temps...I'm beginning to wonder!!

Not necessarily. While I certainly DO believe in global warming, weather tends to be cyclic so 7-14 years from now the record may be matched or even broken again. We were experiencing 100º heat last week and today's high is expected to be 75º so... comes and goes, I s'pose.

Nope, has nothing to do with it. It is more likely that it is related to all the other things that have been happening, huge forest fires, volcanic activity, etc.
While global warming is happening, it is at such a slow pace, that we will not see the major affects of it in our lifetime. Also, as long as the population continues to grow, there is really nothing we can do about global warming. All the things people say to do to prevent it will have negligable affects.

Please note that there is no such thing as global warming according to your president and his staff. They (White House staff) have cencored NASA and other scientist in this regard. There are many people who begged your(or maybe not your) president to sign the Kyoto Treaty or any treaty that may slow down the global warming. They have also begged to encourage GM and other AmeriKKKan companies to build fuel effiecient and hybrid cars to no avail. There has been very little incentive for Bush to push people out of OIL dependence. He and his staff would rather blame others of push for his agendas on drilling more oil in the enviromentally sensitive tundras....
