Just wanted to add: Keep in mind those who recently have been in the news, that were determined to be innocent, through DNA, and further evidence. Those who have already been executed. That has to be completely horrible for the Person, and their Family.
Yes, there are horrible, devious, completely non-sympathetic, calculated Murders, they are a different story. But then there are those who were railroaded.

I have no moral problem with the death penalty, I do however think it is impossible to have a fair justice system and therefore am against the death penalty. If even the US justice system is a joke, what hope is there for a system to apply capital punishment in a reasonably fair way? Think about it, why isn't capital punishment adopted by any of the so called civilized nations?

i am completely against the death penalty for a many reasons. the first being that it seems to me it would be a worse punishment to lock someone in solitary confinement for the rest of their life then kill them, its like you are giving them a way out. why not torture them instead. also it goes against what our prison system is based on. it is supposed to be a reform system to make the suitable members of society. how can we do that if they are dead. another thing is as a few others have said with the new advancements in DNA evidence many are comming up innocent what they would have otherwise been found guilty. there is just too much room for error. humans are not perfect. lastly i have heard but am not sure of the accuracy that it is more expensive to keep someone on death row and to execute someone then to just keep them in normal prison. so much money is wasted on death row inmates. our system is of very low efficency and is wasting tax payer dollars.

I say both!
Good: because some of those people really do not deserve to live anymore (depending on what their crime is).
Bad: because they are on it (& still alive) for sooooo friggin long!

it's a good thing. I think it should be extended to the rapists and all sexual predators! About time someone cares for the victim...

HUGE waste of money. We need to execute these clowns instead of paying millions to house and feed them!
