how do you transfer a word document to a cd or can you?

i designed a bz contracty and cant figure out how to tranfer it to disk so i can go to kinkos and make copies...help anyone..thank you!

Its very simple.
Be certain you have a CDRW drive attached to the computer and working.

If you have a cdrw burner drive and it has its own software - or - if you have RECORDNOW or WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER on your pc, you can simply:

#1 insert a blank cd

#2 wait for the cd menu to popup - at which point you click "make a DATA disk"
Be certain you select data format because if you accidentaly select "music" it wont work.

#3 drag and drop the word file document into the burn menu.

Word files are the same as any other file such as music or photos. You can transfer them or manipulate them almost the exact same way you would anything else.


The only catch is, when you burn a CD with Word docs, you must have a computer with MS word installed to read those doc files from the cd.


Most Windows XP computers have autoplay features for blank cd's so you don't have to fumble around looking for the controls. You might also check in your
START MENU ---> ALL PROGRAMS
to check for cdrw writing programs that will burn to cd's.

You have to make it so it is a data disc.

1. You could use a program.

2. The easy and less expensive way! First insert a disc into your burner. Next find your file and right click. Find the send to and click it. A pop out window will appear. Find the tab that says CD. Click it and there you go. When you have all your files go into my computer and click your cd drive and click burn in the left colum if this doesn't work google it!

3. Open the blank cd
4. Drag the document you wish to put onto the cd into the window you just opened.
5.Click the little link on the left that says write thes files to cd.

While you could burn it to a cd, it makes more sense to use more rewritable media, such as a disc. Kinkos should have disk drives, and as long as the diskettes are formatted correctly there should be a program which can read/print it.

Otherwise, e-mail it to an online mail account, and open the attachment at Kinkos, then print it.

First of all you need to determine if your CD is one that can write to CD's. It would be labeled on the front as either CD-R or CD-RW or something to that effect. Not just CD.

Then depending on the operating system of the computer you should be able to simply put in a blank writable CD and copy the file to the CD.

You CAN burn it to a cd if you have a cd burner. You simply open up the software and choose 'data cd'. However, you're wasting like, 99% of the cd if you use it for just one word file. Try saving it to a 'flash drive' or portable USB device. They work like a floppy disk.

if you have windows xp then right click start menu and click explore, go through all the folders and files until you locate your file then drag it to your floppy or CD-RW drive, depending where you want to copy it. if you copy it to CD then a message should pop up from you notification bar, click it and new window will appear and then click "write these files to CD" if there are more then one file then select the one you want to copy and click "write these files to CD".and you are done. it sounds long but it's a very short process. you should have a writable CD in your CD-RW drive.

You can save it as a data file but you will need the program that created it to open it up at Kinkos.
Sounds like you should print it out and make copies of your printout on a copy machine.

You need a CD-R (or CD-RW) and blank CDs. Depending on your OS and what software came with your CD drive you should be able to write whatever files you want to the blank CDs.
