I'm talking about those People Finder websites that tell you extremely personal information like your current address, phone number, address history, etc. All some psycho stalker has to do it pay the fee and they get all the access they need, right? What's up with this service? Someone put my nerves at ease cuz I'm always paranoid about these kinds of things.

And yes, to the smart a** first replier I do realize that anything can be unsafe in the wrong hands. I'm just being particular because I don't think it's a crime to NOT want the wrong kind of people to be able to look my info up on the internet.

You need to get used to the idea that there is no privacy.

It is sad but true.

What exactly would a safe site consist of???

Most of the time , people see the info and forget it the next day, now if a person acts upon what they see, then they are subject to punishment, Dont worry about, much stuff like that, just have fun with, what you like.

Anything can be unsafe in the wrong hands. Do you trust the company who made your tires or car??

But, a little bit of paranoia goes a looooooong way. We all make judgements off of past experiences, so go with your gut feeling.

I don't know if this will put your nerves at ease, but all a psycho has to do is walk up to your house or follow you home and they also know where you live.

If the users are stupid enough to leave their personal information online, then serves them right. I personally don't like to do that. When I have to, I make sure that my network is closed and only my first degree friends can view them. Not the friends of my friends. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, switch from myspace to friendster.)

Most of these sites only have names, addresses and phone numbers. Stuff you can easily find yourself in a phone book. Don't be paranoid.

Yeah, its almost as much of a deadly weapon as your local white pages! And that one's free!

Lions and Tigers and Directories, Oh, My!

Someone would have to want to stalk you in the first place.

that doesn't even bother when compared to the NSA monitoring AT&T traffic at the very backbone of the grid, without limits, checks and balances or warrants.
Do not be paranoid, it will only blind you to those who really are out to get you.
