Make it casual. Its best to first go out with a group. That being said, get together a bunch of your friends and decide to go to the movies, or a theme park or something. Then casually ask if he'd like to come along. Its better to start out with something that both of you feel comfortable doing, and if you tend to be shy when you're all alone with him, then be sure that your group includes someone who isn't afraid to get the conversations going. After a few group outings, you'll feel more comfortable around him, and he'll see how much fun it is being around you, and he just may beat you to the punch!

Some guys always go back to their friends and talk about dating and girls, stuff like that so I would suggest that you ask him in a way that it can be considered as a friendly request. Look at the two outcomes:
You: Hi, _____ I was just wondering if you were hungry and wanted to go with me to check out the the restaurant after school?
Boy:With you?
You:Unless your girlfriend will get jealous
Boy: I don't have a girlfriend. Ya, I would like to eat with you afterschool.

Just ask him. Don't listen to these people who say a "lady" should not ask a guy out. This is the new millenium for Christ sake! If you want to ask him out, just do it. Otherwise, you may be waiting aroud a LONG time. He may not even know you exist!!!

If he doesn't have a girlfriend ask him to go to the movies as a friend. There are no strings attached to a simple night hanging out. Thats all your looking for ....right?....well if not...just start as friends.

Just ask him out- its not (and shouldnt be) brain surgery. Something simple will suffice, like going for dessert. or on rollercoasters- you can bond while screaming like little kids as you go down the first drop!
