It depends on the motor and how well the stock manifold was designed, and the manufacturer of the aftermarket header. Some manifolds are better than others. The Ford Focus SVT is a good example, it has an excellent stock header, and you would be throwing money away if you were to get an aftermarket one. There is no hard and fast answer about your power gain, each situation is different.

Many facters are calculated when building a header, pipe size, bending process, and leight of runners. If you get everything perfect (you will never will) you will get about 15 NA HP(good stuff) But I have seen header that reduct HP also. You want to get a header from a good manufactures(don't buy cheap stuff) a good manufactures spend time and money on figuring the above factors.

if headers are the only thing being added, the gains are small.
but that is just the exit of the engine. the gains can be compounded by going to the front end. it's all about airflow.
get more IN then figure out how to get it all out.
intakes and other mods can increase intake airflow, and prices are coming down on some of this stuff.

Depends on the engine, anywhere from less horsepower to as much as 40 HP. A big engine will see more power gains and a smaller engine will see less of a power gain.

It depends on several factors. What kind of car, what brand of headers, what kind of car/truck,what other upgrades the engine has. The list can be very long.A gain of about 20hp would be the highest, which isn't that great considering the price.

Ten or 15...more if you 'wrap' them. You will get even more with a performance (bigger) exhaust system behind the headers.
