It depends entirely on how many people you want in your bridal party. Generally, there are equal numbers of bridesmaids and groomsmen (we had 6 of each at our wedding), and one each of the flower girls and ring bearers.

That said, if you are having a very small wedding, you should have a proportionately small bridal party. It would just be odd if there are only 20 guests, but 5 bridesmaids. There is nothing at all strange about having only 1 or 2 bridesmaids and groomsmen, regardless of the size of the wedding.

In a small church, I don't recommend more then 3 bridesmaids. Even at that, its more then enough.

I had three on my wedding and we got married in a big church and I can tell you that it was just the right amount.

For the flower girls, try not to have more then two and for the ring bearers - well, only one.

Before you make a decision to have the flower girls, make sure that the church you will get married in will allow for the flower petals to be thrown on the floor. A lot of them will not allow it due to the maintenance after wards. Same for the confetti's...

One last advice.... make sure your bridal party is not wearing red!
That is a BIG NO NO at weddings ! Reason being is because red is such a flashy color, people will tend to look at the person wearing it more then the bride itself.... I didn't make these rules, but believe me, it is true. I mean, Burgundy is ok, I am talking about RED - RED ! :)

Wish you all the best!

1 maid of honor, 1 bridesmaid, 1 flower girl. 1 best man, 1 groomsman, 1 ring bearer. Add you and hubby and the pastor and there will still be 9 people up at the altar. That is starting to be a crown right there. If you want a small wedding stick to small numbers.

The number isn't important..it's whatever suits you. I had my sisters...which happen to be 6, and 6 grooms men to escort them..plus 1 flower girl/ring bearer. That was alot if you ask me BUT...they were my sisters. I think however many you need to include the best of the people who love and support you, (be it friends or family) is the right number. Do what you want...whether it's 1 of each or 10 of each..it's your wedding, your call. Then feel good about it and enjoy the day.

1 flower girl, 1 ring bearer, and i would say 3 or 4 bridesmaids (with a groomsmen to accompany them)

This really is a matter of opinion but I think you should limit your bridesmaids and groomsmen to no more than three or four and only one flower girl and one ring bearer. Congrats and best of luck to you and your spouse.

if its a small wedding and church, I wouldn't go over 3 bridesmaids and groomsmen, but still have 1 each of the flower girl, ringbearer. Of course, it is your day, do want you want, I am sure no one will think poorly of you. If you have extra people you want to include, you can always have them do special things like attend the guest book, candlelighters, sing, etc.

I agree with Laurielle. A friend of mine got married in a small church & she had 3 bridesmaids (me included) & that was actually a pretty perfect number cause then there aren't too many people.
