I downloaded a program trial that identified files in my registry that need to be removed. However, the program won't do it for me unless I buy it - so, now that I know which files need removed, and where to find them, what is the safe way to remove them?

Read the below link for instructions on backing up and restoring your registry.

http://www.theeldergeek.com/windows_xp_registry.htm

Once you have the registry backed up and are confident you know the restore procedure(I suggest printing the article) feel free to tmake the required changes using Regedit. This way if you bork your registry you can simply restore it and try again.

The article is fairly lengthy. If at any point you do not COMPLETELY understand what to do, stop and ask for help.
