Hello Taylor,
I have been teaching Reiki for about 10 years now. In that time, I've never turned anyone away from Reiki training. Usually, I do accept money, though barter is also just as good - if not better.

I do not believe that there is anything for 'free' . There is always a price to pay. The universe works that way, it must in order to maintain balance.

I know of Reiki 'masters' who teach for free. What this amounts to is usually an attunement and nothing else. The student then becomes dependent on the Reiki 'master' simply because they have no clue what they are doing. I am dealing with this where I live presently. These free-Reiki students show up at other Reiki exchanges and ask other Reiki master teachers to explain how this reiki stuff works / what should they do... Part of being a Reiki master is teaching. Part of being a teacher of Reiki is handing down a linage and tradition. Sadly, the growing trend in America is moving away from this and focusing on the attunement as the only necessary thing.

Attunements themselves do very little - actually learning how to apply Reiki and EXPERIENCE through practice are most important. Remember that no one attuned Usui - and some argue that he himself did not attune others - at least the way we now know in the West and the rest of the world.

Another thing, I believe that when you are ready to progress, nothing will stop that process from happening. Maybe money will manifest. Maybe you will find the right teacher. A door will be opened for you. I have found this as being the case more times than I can count. Maybe this inability to attain level 2 is a tool guiding you to seek more experience? Remember that in Traditional Japanese Reiki the average time one spends at Reiki level 1 is about 10 years! Very few make it past Reiki level 2. And there are only 5 Reiki Teachers in Japan today teaching Traditional Japanese Reiki.

I would suggest to you to wait for the correct in-person teacher to appear. I would shy away from free online Reiki sites. In the majority of cases, you'll end up disappointed and without much experience or teacher interaction.

Remember that Reiki is more than a title (or multiple titles for that matter) or how fast you can get to the level of 'master'. I know of Reiki level 1 students who know Reiki (and how to apply it) better than a lot of Reiki 'masters'.

While you search, attend local Reiki exchanges where you live. If there arent any, start one. Also, get yourself a copy of these 2 books. They are wonderfully written books on Reiki (something I dont say very often - most are garbage):

The Japanese Art of Reiki
The Reiki Sourcebook

....... both are by Bronwen & Frans Stiene

If you can digest these 2 text, you will know more about Reiki than most Western Reiki masters do.

Also, stay away from Essential Reiki by Diane Steine and Reiki & The Healing Buddha by M. Kelly. Both of these books are grossly misleading. Essential Reiki is fully new-age Reiki, having been mixed with everything from witchcraft, to angels, to chakras. Reiki & the Healing Buddha is a twisted tale of how Reiki is a Buddhist healing art. It isnt. I'm Japanese Buddhist, have been for 25+ yrs. I know first hand.

Anywho, I wish you the best of luck on your search. If you'd like, please feel free to contact me. I'd be happy to chat with you.

Take care,
Jeff

Actually 13 for a guy to start masturbation is perfectly fine and normal, that is why your hubby is laughing at you becasue he was doing the same thing at the same age and I am sure you were as well. So I wouldn't talk. Honestly I would rather my son/daughter ( if i ever have one ) to take pleasure in masturbation and i would encourage it, Why? well i wouldn't want them to get a STD or get pregnent from having se. Besides masturbation is healthy for men as well as women for releaving stress and learning about ones changing body. For men however its more healthy in cleaning out their system of old sperm and can reduce the chances of Prostate cancer ( DR.OZ even said it himself) If you going to talk to your son about this I wouldn't discourage him from doing this but tell him it is ok so he will not feel embarassed as well as telling him not to gives him more reason to rebel and do it anyway. Masturbation is not dirty or wrong though many people see it as that when studies have proven that its the best sexual act that is out their because know one knows what you like better then yourself as well as their is no chance of getting a STD or pregnant from it. Think about it

You can, but you get what you pay for. If you are really dedicated to the path you will a way to pay or find a teacher who will work for trade (that's what I do--we don't exchange money, we exchange other types of energy.)
Search for "free reiki attunements"--good luck.
