You need to think of how the name "Venus" comes across to people. Most guys are going to see it as an OK by the parents to sexually pressure their daughter since the name is associated with the Goddess of Love.
I was going to name my daughter Tuolumne after a beautiful high alpine meadow in Yosemite Park, one of my favorite places, when she was born in 1980. It was a magical day when she was born. There was a 90% eclipse of the sun, the yellow daffodils were blooming and the day had a golden color to it. But then I realized that she would be nicknamed "****" and that would never do. She has another name that she likes.
Be careful with potential nicknames. Put yourself in your daughter's place and try on the name and see if you like it. See if there is any negative things associated with the name.

Venus is a lovely name. So is Emma. Julia is okay, but Kate is too plain.
Pick something unique, something that will stand out and make your daughter an individual--but not something that'll embarrass her as she gets older; a good example of that is Jim Hogg, a former governor of Texas, who named his daughter Ima. Avoid names like that!!!

I think it's a cool name. It's unique, without being too weird.
PLEASE don't name her Kate or Katie. There are enough Katies in this world to populate China, and although it's a cute name it's just waaaay too common!

definitely NOT Venus. Remember what rhymes with it. She'll be teased constantly in school and will hate her name. The other 3 names are beautiful.

If you want to call her Venus then go for it. I have 3 girls named Shayne, Kasey and Pagan and so far so good......... they love their names and don't want to be called anything else! I wish my parents had given me an unusual name I think it makes you more memorable!

it is recommended that if you give a child an unusual first name give them a regular middle name so they can have a choice when they grow up but i think you should name her what you like and not what everyone else thinks
