Will my fish be alright? They are pretty hardy, but 1 died already.
Will the others be ok? It is almost 90 degrees in here, but the power is back and air is running. Will they be ok? And what do i do if there is another power surge? We would go to a hotel. What about my fish?

I'd recommend doing a 10% water change every 2 hours to provide more oxygen, and lower the temp. Put a bottle of water in the freezer, and if the power goes out and stays out stick the bottle in there before you leave. The bottle should be around 1/20th the volume of the tank.

Do an immediate water change of about 50%.

Try to get your water temps down slowly.

Make sure remaining fish are getting enough water circulation

You should test your water for ammonia, nitrates, nitrites...my guess is that your tank will be going through a "mini cycle" since most of the good bacteria might have died off.

Try to limit your feedings until water readings are optimal again

They make emergency pumps which run on batteries. AZOO makes a small one powered by a 9V battery if you're worried about future power failures.

Water change! 25-50% right now to lower the temp in the tank. How are your chem levels? Nitrites, Nitrates, ammonia, etc? What is your PH at?

After your initial water change, wait a few hours, test your levels, do a 10-20% change and wait a few hours. Continue until everything is back to normal.

Try putting in ice cubes just a few at a time just to keep the water cooler. I am sure that your fish died b/c lack of oxygen in the water not heat. Dramatic temp changes is usually what gets them not slow rising or falling.

bring the temp of the water down slowly and it should be o.k. if the temp is brought down too quicklyit will be just as harmfull to your fish as what the high temps are, because it will shock their systems.

your fish need air in the water; you either get that from your filter or your air stone or both. if you can find a way to aerate the water they should be fine. good luck!
