I'm not going to say I know how you feel because I don't. However if you have a best friend that loves you as much as my best friend loves me than talk to him/her. Find someone you can trust and tell them everything. You'll feel better after you've talked to someone. It doesn't matter if that person isn't paid to talk to you.

Panic and calm are both states of mind. Whichever you get into has momentum. Worrying that something is wrong with you is usually the result of trying to live up to someone else's expectations. You are you and that would be perfect if you quit being afraid of what others say. What's real is that you are experiencing. Right now! Always! Find a quiet place and explore what that means. I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised.

By the way, the "What's wrong with you?' question has been put on everyone by those who demand you be like them. "Get professional help" sometimes has good intentions and sometimes is just a put-down. Either way, it's probably bad advice.

You're really okay except for being afraid that you're not.

Get a physical from your doctor. You may be experiencing an imbalance of fluids. Perhaps he would prescribe a mild tranquilizer.

You can always check yourself into a clinic for analysis. Your doctor could give you some recommendations.

Is there a youth leader or minister at church with whom you could talk? It doesn't have to be your place of worship.

See the best guidance counsellor at school. It doesn't have to be your regular counsellor.

Many therapists see clients based on their income or pro bono(free). Just pull out the phone book and call some of them. Ask what their policies are and tell them you really need help.* This would be my first choice.

Is there anyone in the community who leads in meditation? You'd be surprised at how calming this can be. It doesn't have to have a religious emphasis.

Every state is required to have children's protective services. You do not have to have been physically abused by anyone in order to give them a call. The fact that you have clearly expressed wanting professional help and it is not being provided you is justification for making the call. They have the resources of the state to assist in getting you in to be seen by a professional and can help see that anyone else in the family that might be needing help gets it as well. You have already done the most difficult part in just admiting that you feel you need help - now just follow through. You are worth it, your family and friends are worth it as well. There are enough things in life that occasionally bring us down that are beyond our control; this situation does not have to be one of them. So take charge and know that from the responses you've received here there are several people wishing you the very best. Also, stay in touch...Okay!

It may help you to call this number:
1-800-448-3000
This is the Girls and Boys Town National Hotline. It is a 24-hour hotline staffed by professional counselors who help young people with any issue they are having. They are great listeners and helpers, and also will probably have some free resources in your community where you can get ongoing counseling or other kinds of help.
And stay calm - this too shall pass.

Guidance counselors are a good source, if you are still in school...if not, then you can find information in the phone book, sometimes there are non-profit organizations that can help you and listen to you, and at times there are also confidential talk lines that you can call..800 numbers...and those people are helpful as well...or you could always buy a self help book, not too costly that can help you learn different ways to cope with the feelings that you are having...there are ways that are not costly...just try looking in the yellow pages and you will find somewhere and someone who will be willing to listen to you for free.

first off, get a copy of the book "Toxic Parents" because it sounds like your mother is emotionally abusing you.

second, in some places there are "citizens counseling centers" that provide counselling at a minimum charge, like for free.

third, find a support group for whatver problem you are having. there might be local support groups and/or a local mental health community center that can help you find support and even have free psychiatric services sometimes.

Call a counselor in your area and express your concerns. I went to one, and because I couldn't afford it, there was something they did in conjunction with the govt. that allowed be to go to the therapist for free. Look into its worth the time, and it allowed me to be honest, because it was a stranger that I knew I could trust. The office you go to wont lose money either they get paid through the program they enroll you for.

Start with school counselors if that's all you've got. They can't, by law, disclose anything to your parents unless you're dangerous. It's a REALLY tough place to be living at home with parents who aren't willing to work with you. If you seriously think you might hurt yourself (or others), go to the emergency room.
