dont listen to these numb nuts!

to rip dvd's into your computer you need a program that is called DVD RIPPER.
all you have to do is to place your DVD into your dvd drive then run the program.

some dvd's have copy rights so you cannot easily copy or rip them and there are some laws that undergoes about copyrighting so be aware to it.

anyway "Nero burning rom" has the capability to rip and burn dvd's

also try to search in download.com the dvd ripper its a good program too.

hope it helps. enjoy ripping and burning!

In order to to watch a DVD you need a DVD player internal (built into the computer) or if you don't have one you can buy an External (connected to the computer by Firewire or USB port) one for under $100.

Once connected you would need a Decoder (most of the DVD movies have one built in and will install a program on your computer so that it could play the DVD) if not, then you need to buy that too like WinDVD or InterMedia etc.

Put the DVD into the drive and the DVD player program on your computer will start automatically and start playing the DVD, if that does not happen then start the DVD player program and launch the movie from there.

If you need to Rip it then just go to DVD drive and there is a folder called Video_TS copy all the files from that folder to any other folder on your computer. These files are in VOB format which is very bulky and if you want you can compress them by using a various conversion programs to AVI, DivX or MPG4 so that the size can get reduced with almost the same quality as VOB.

Hope this helps

Install a DVD drive. If you already have one, then just pop the movie in (You will need a DVD player software installed, but if you already have a DVD drive then most probably the DVD player software is already installed in your computer, too)

These days DVD drives are really cheap. There's something called a DVD Burner or CD Burner: You would not need either of those types to just watch movies on the computer; all you need is a basic DVD drive.

The drives usually come ready to read CD's as well so you will see the description of the drive as CD/DVD drive.

The real issue I see for you is getting the DVD installed; so what you could do is to take your computer to a place like Best Buy and have them install the DVD drive. I would give them a call and see if they are able to install the drive for you while you wait.

BEWARE: Once a place like Best Buy or CompUSA has your computer they will probably try to sell you more upgrades or software for your computer. If you already have good Antivirus/Spyware protection, and good RAM Memory then most probably you will be able to reject whatever additional stuff they want to sell you.

Here's a link to Best Buy's DVD drives:

You have to have a dvd drive to watch it on your computer. If you want to put the actual movie on your computer for further use then use something like DVD FabDecrypter to burn it on ya computer

Press the door-open button on your DVD drive and when the nice little tray comes out place the DVD shiny side down onto it.Push the tray back in gently and wait.If you have DVD playing software the disc will play. Then sit back and watch.

On the fron of your computer, the disk drawer must say DVD on it. If it just says CD or Compact Disc, it won't work.

Open the DVD drawer, and make sure that the shiny side of the DVD is facing down. Close the drawer, and the movie should start on its own.

If not, click START, then PROGRAMS, then ACCESSORIES, then ENTERTAINMENT, then WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER. Click FILE, then OPEN and choose the DVD drive.
