this icon keeps flashing on the bottom right corner of my screen saying "your computer is infected". But it isn't the antivirus program or anything. I used Windows Defender and Spybot but they didn't find anything.

I am almost positive that you have a Smitfraud infection. It is doubtful that any of the above "shotgun" fixes will be of much help.

Smitfraud usually requires a special removal procedure and a special (free) removal tool called SmitfraudFix.

Take a look at all these links:

Good luck, that is a nasty one you got there.

hi, perhaps you can try norton or Macfee, or spyware doctore to remove the spyware, these three software all need a fee to use..

i also recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox cannot remove the spyware, but it can disable this spyware to run, because the virus can only run on IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:

Best Wishes && Good Luck!

Kaspersky anti-virus and registry mechanic work awesome together (ad-aware actually has spy ware and ad-ware in it)
you could also try reformatting windows
hope that helps

by the way the "your computer is infected" is actually a malicious program, DO NOT click on it just close it

if it is indeed spyware, webroot or ad aware are both good programs, but if it's a virus, you might want to scan with something other than what you have, like avast, it's free, or use an online scan at housecalls...search for them if you want to try those resolutions.

u can download ADWARE from www.download.com (find it under the spyware section) and install it on ur machine. Run it and always do a complete scan.

Also avoid using IE, instead use mozilla firefox browser.

What browser are you using? If you are using IE, try switching to Firefox, then change your setting to disallow popups. It may help.

Whtever you do, don't click the Ad that says "your computer is infected."

Hope this helps.
