Yes - all economic and business transactions use money as an exchange. The days or bartering are over.
Yes - all countries do business cases on social, infrastructural, health and educational needs based on monetary impact as a major consideration.
Yes - all religions need lots of money to sustain their message of hope and ideals. Religions with lots of money indirectly set the political tones in many countries.

Does money rule the world?
No - money is an object, needs a person.

Money and sex rule the world. Everything people do are to acheive on of those two things, primarily.

We go to school to get jobs to make money.
We work to make money.
We buy cars to get to work, to make money.
We spend money to make more money.

We try to make ourselves attractive to find a mate.
We look for a mate to have sex and reproduce.
We buy things to impress people to find a mate.

It's an endless cycle, but money and sex are our society's main motivations. According to Sigmund Freud, sex is our only motivation. Read up on it.
