My gas milage is really upsetting me. At first it was really good. I was getting 39 mpg. Then, I've been noticing it is getting worse. I haven't calculated it yet but at point A I will be at 3/4 tank and at point B (say about 20 miles later) I am almost at 1/2. A few weeks ago, should I make this trip, I could barely notice if I've gone down.

I've added a gas treatment two weeks ago.

What is wrong with my poor Beverly?

1994 Toyota Camry. I've had a complete oil change and check the oil every morning before I leave (my brother once drove around without any oil and it turned out quite horribly).

My plugs have been changed recently (right after I got the car about a month ago actually.

I don't use my A/C because I know it will go through gas. Besides, I like the feel of the wind in my hair.

Using the AC will bring it down faster.
You could be buying crappy gas.. even if it is premium.
If you have a 6 cylinder.. they are gas wh0res.

See about getting a tune up (???)

Possible nothing... a gas indicator is not an accurate means of measure gas mileage..do a fill up then record your mileage, drive a few miles then refill your tank and check mileage...if after doing that you find you truly are wasting gas then take your vehicle in for a check up...

You either need a Tune up or the station you filled up last had water
and now you have water burning with the fuel
With the war going on it's hard telling what we are burning for fuel
It maybe recycled rubbish mixed with the gas..

most of the people on top seem to be correct, check all that stuff out. another test you can do is smell your exshaust gas, dont take your time sucking that stuff, but run your nose by real QUICK if your car is running right their should be no gas smell or very little. if you smell gas in the axshaust then you are running Rich, take to a machenic.

you might have a leaky fuel line. since you have a hybrid im guessing the computer might be messing up. before you go on a long driving trip you should have your car inspected for any signs of unusual ware. also check the throttle. it might be getting stuck open when you put in park therefore allowing fuel to drain

sounds like you might have a leak some where. also all your gas millage comes from the air filter. if it is dirty than you are not getting the proper fuel and air mixture. check for any abnormal gas smells and change the filter. you might want to look at the fuel filter also

The gas gauge may be broken. Calculate the gas mileage before you panic

If you are low on oil then it causes you to burn gas faster.

You should try having your car tuned up. (replace the spark plugs and wires)
