I believe we should keep the monachy because its tradition and it brings us billions in tourism. However, i feel its unfair for the royal family to waste tax payers money to satisy their whims. An example is Prince Harry sending escorts to pick up his girlfriend. What do you think about this?

Forgot to say, the moncarchy gets its money from the tax payers as they have no real jobs beyond ceremonial duties.

Canada here, the monarchy is a total waste of money. I wish the queen would get her face off our money. I am tired of having to pay for her trips to my country. We are not your colony anymore, stay home Liz.

They (the Monarchy) are an anachronism. In a world which supports democracy and an egalitarian society there is no excuse for perpetuating the notion that some families have 'better genes' than others. An hereditary Monarchy is suited to feudalism not a world where prejudice is disapproved of rather than celebrated. And the history of the Monarchy is a celebration of prejudice.
The Queen is not needed, not for tourism, not for her titular constitutional role. The UK has done much to abolish the House of Lords - hopefully it will take the final step and make the upper house completely electable. And, yes, the Queen should go - who needs her? She and her family are a complete waste of money.

You Brits are insane. A columnist in one of your newspapers advocated dumping the monarchy because it's outdated and sends the wrong message for a democracy or some such crap. He also wanted to sell all the artworks to help support the poor "pensioners", etc.
I wanted to write back to him that this was a fine answer because here in the good 'ol US of A we don't have ANY poor retired people because we don't have a monarchy. We are all rich here in the US!
Tell you what, we'll trade you your Queen and you can take Georgie, okay? That will surely solve all your problems.
This goes for Australia too.

Certainly, the cost of security alone must be colossal.
Tourists will still come even without a royal family who they don't have any chance of seeing.
