the common reason of freezing a computer is software problem or hardware problem.
if you recently add a hard ware, please check the computability if not check the last software you installed and finally you can update your OS under: http://update.microsoft.com

Try going to stompsoft.com and downloading the trial for registry repair and running it. Might help...
