You need to create some averages for yourself. What's the average time it takes you. Some floors are easy to strip; others have years of build-up that take more.
Take the average time and add in your travel time to and from the job and the cost of the materials. So if 10 sq feet takes you 10 min then it's 1 min per sq foot or 60 sq feet per hour. So you'd add in travel time (30 mintues) and say this job will take 90 minutes, so I'll charge $10 / hour.

You might also have a different rate for floors with buildup -- knowing they'd take more time. So if it's 60 sq feet with heavy buildup, maybe it takes 2 hours plus 30 travel mins. Multiply the $10 / hour times 2.5 hours.

If you have any friends willing to do so, have them call comparable shops and ask for a price. That will also give you ball park figures.

I own an office cleaning business in New York and the standard price is .25 per square foot. This is for stripping and waxing. Half tiles count as a whole tile. Good luck!!
