This morning Peter McKay called Hezbollah a cancer on Lebanon. He suggested strongly that since they are to Lebanon like the Nazis were to Germany before WW2, they need to be eradicated. I agree. Do you?

biffo, I'd like to hear more. What are Hezbollah's problems, and what freedom are they fighting for?

Eric, Schools and clinics are good. But why does Lebanon not do this? Where does the money come from?

Absolutely. They are not the 'liberators' of Lebanon as they try to present themselves. They are evil people who put rocket launchers in the middle of neighborhoods and in people's homes! They are the proxy for Iran and Syria. It is being reported now that Hezbullah brought in handicapped children into Qana and placed a rocket launcher on the roof in order to draw fire from Israeli planes so Hezbullah could show the world how 'awful' Israeli is. There is a problem, however. The firing on the building took place at around 1:00 am. The building collapsed about eight hours later. So, yes, Hezbullah must be eradicated. Not only for peace for Israel but for the whole region - and the Western World - as well. G-d bless our boys of the IDF!

Hezbollah is an organization responsible for killing hundred of unarmed U.S. service men in the late 80's. I have no love for their organization. Maybe, maybe not, more lands should be given to the Palestinian people. But because of their immoral tactics and dysfunctional religious justifications I would not cry if Hezbollah were totally eradicated.

The reality is however they probably will not be. At some point there needs to be compromise on both sides. They cannot say they are going to compromise then undermine it by enabling others to caring on their very same tactics.

If Hezbollah is not willing to recognize the state of Israel and come to a compromise it will eventually end up in an all out, knock down, drag out war. Nobody should want this.

Unless there are Muslims willing to compromise and fight their own that are not, this suffering will never end. The only other solution is for their to be genocide on either side. Obviously this is not reasonable and all efforts should be made to come to a lasting resolution.

That's funny. It was the Nazis who called the Jews a "cancer" who had to be removed, you know like you say "eradicated." Actually, it's not funny. But I can appreciate that you ask for more info. That's commendable. Hezbollah is not just a bunch of gunmen, it is also a political party. Why is their popular support for them? Because they do things like build schools and clinics. They are a lifeline to the poor and needy. They have a TV station that Israel bombed. Maybe you don't like the message of a TV or radio station but you don't blow it up. Of course, unless your tactics are savage and brutal which this current Israeli offensive is. Israel can no longer hide behind the Holocaust, it has done its neighbors wrong and some of their neighbors have done them wrong. But to collectively punish Lebanon and the Palestinians for a few acts that it routinely carries out - kidnappings and murder - will do nothing but ensure that there's more where that came from.

NO, when America and its allies decide to eradicate terrorists its the innocent civilians who pay the price. Its easy for the likes of Peter McKay to make stupid statements like that when he's living thousands of miles away from where the bombs are falling.Hezbollah have huge support in Lebanon and that must be for a reason. So instead of bombing the hell out of innocent people maybe they should address Hezbollah's problems. Remember one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.

Compare Lebanon-Israel problem as some hooligans throwing stones at your house every once a while. That is called living in a very bad neighbourhood.
If you are week, you would leave and go and the hooligans would occupy your house.
But if you happen to be strong, you would do just that what Israeles are doing now.
Remember all the Arabs enjoy and celebrate at the loss of every Jew killed by Arabs and they make lot of noise when some Arabs get killed by Jews in war.
It's not that the Arabs care a lot of innocent people dying. Because if they do, you would have heard the same rally's and violent demonstrations everywhere when 100's of Arabs are dying every day in Iraq by their infighting. They don't care. You would never see demonstrations, condemnations, violent rallys when 50,000 inocent Hindus have been killed in the last 20 years in Kashmir by terrorists, Train bomb in Bombay killing more than 200 innocent people.
Have you heard any Muslim voice from any country. Nio!!
So you understand, its their inherent hatred about anything related to Jews, Americans and non-muslims.
So what's going on in Lebanan is the same thing what's going on in different parts of the worls--different flavours of conflicts between Islamists and civilized people.

It is the Fundamentalist Islam which is the biggest cancer in the modern world and needs to be taken care of. It would be difficult though. Have we been able to completelt wipe out the cockroaches. No !. When they start bothering you a lot, you would use insecticides to kill as much as possible. You have then taken care of that problem for a while only.

So you can draw your own conclusions.
