I am ordering a notebook from Dell and I can get either but I cannot get a 120GB with the 7400 so that's not an option. Which is better? More space and slower (if rpm is a big difference) or less space and faster?

Sure 100 GB with 7400 rpm will give optimal performance than 120 GB with 5400 rpm.

Faster hard drive is always better, even if the space is less, so go for 100 GB/7400 Rpm.

no the 20 GB is BARELY any difference you already get so much space but 5400 and 7400 is a big difference so..

go wit 100 GB @ 7400 RPM or else ull be waiting longer for stuff to installed and transfering files and stuff

I personally would go for 100gb with 7400, more speed less wear and tear, but why stop there, 300gb+ external hard drives are under £100 and getting cheaper. Then there are sata drives if you want faster access. Its down to personal preference. if you are running xp format it to ntfs not fat32, it's a far superior file system. hope this helps:-)

100 Gig with 7400 rpm is gonna accsess fast.
120 gig with 5400 rpm is not bad bigger storage.

i only have an 80 gig in my laptop. but im not sure what the rpm is but its fast..

100 gig should be good. unless ur like me and can fill an 80 gig harddrive up like 4 times in one day sometimes more lol. but its true
