What would YOU cut?

If you were to cut funding to a certain program or just anything in general, what would you cut?

Well, they say that the amount that we have a problem with for the deficit is about 30% of total so why not cut 31% across-the-board? Even-handed, fixes the problem, gets everything back in balance. Everyone would be whining, but not too loudly...

One way or another, the nat'l debt needs to get addressed.

Defence spending would be greatly reduced and excess diverted to education. NASA budget diverted to Alternative energy source research and development. The CIA, NSA would be abolished and the FBI would assume whatever duties they are fulfilling which are vital to national interests. the money saved from funding duplicate government agencies would be diverted to medicare and social security. there are many other worthy possibilities which need to be examined as well but this will suffice as a start.

I would cut all subsidies to the oil industry. This seems like a waste of tax dollars, as evidenced by recent oil company profits.

25% of that money could go to alternative energy research, and the rest could remain in the Treasury to cover the deficit.

I would stop funding programs, agencies, and departments that are unable to submit certified audits to the Congress.

If programs and agencies can't track, record, and justify expenditures -- they get too much money.
