I have always wanted to be able to sing well. I don't have a horrible voice, but it could be improved. How can I improve my singing, without getting lessons, are there online things I could do. I have a piano, and I know how to read music, please help! (FREE things on the internet)

The best thing to do aside from practicing and practicing is having a vocal workout. Breathing exercises is important to singers and even speakers. Picture an athlete having training exercises. It's is just the same as that of a singer. Perhaps you could buy some vocal workout cds in any music stores.

You should know that there are three types of breathing, haven't you notice that when we breathe our chest rises? That's is incorrect when it comes to singing. It should be your abs which must expand, the reason is that your diaphragm pulls in the air, not your lungs.

Another thing is to join a choir, it doesn't just improve your voice but choir conductors would give you free tips on singing, pronunciation, posture and delivery of the music. Within the choir you'll learn a lot including the dynamics in music - when to prolong, when to soften your voice, etc, etc.

Another thing is that since you know how to play the piano, you could try to use that as your singing coach (provided you're not tone deaf, hehehe). You could look for some simple tunes you could play with and sing with.

And most of all, if you would practice singing, don't abuse your voice. Take a rest for a while, don't do it all the day because if you do, it'll just ruin your voice and not improve it.

You must be very picky with the drinks and foods that you have, milk would just build up much acid within your stomach so it's a no-no for singers. Water is still the best. fruits and vegetables (of course) is still the best food we could eat. And don't you believe in those urban legends that when you drink something cold you'll just damage your voice...it is not scientifically proven.

Good luck and wishing that someday i'll see you onstage or even your own album!!!

Do what I do. Pick out a song that suits your voice type. Then practice that one song until you can sing it perfectly without messing up even one note. Once you've mastered that song move on to another one. While doing this you are adapting your voice to hit different notes and to sing stronger. In no time you'll see a difference.

Well it's feasible to gain knowledge of the right way to sing for those who wouldn't have a well voice within the starting. However, it does take time and plenty of train to gain knowledge of the right way to sing. I might advocate enrolling in a choir elegance. They will train you the entire keys and can paintings with you on getting the proper pitch. It would occur. It simply comes right down to how tough you are inclined to paintings for it.

Get yourself a small tape recorder. Record yourself singing and playing. Be your own critic.

Practice, Practice and more practice.

Best of luck.
