I have three tattoos - one on the inside of each wrist and one on the back of my neck. They all have meaning to me and me alone and they are all symbols that I came up with.
Being a female and living in today's society my tattoos are in places that are easily covered. I don't mind getting tattoos but would never want to be covered in them. I have been pondering the thought of getting another personal design on my lower back.
Don't really care to see the same tattoos on several different people, that's why I design my own, and I'm not too fond of tattoos all over the body, but don't snub anyone if they're covered in them, it's their choice. I tolerate people that stigmatise people that have tattoos because I feel that they are obviously missing something in their own lives to condemn others for something so trivial as a tattoo.

If other people have tattoos that's their business, I think people who cover their whole body in them are a bit bonkers.
I don't really think tattoos look nice on women, they make them look butch. The tattoos fade and they don't look very nice, just greyish and blurry. If you get fat or have stretch marks they end up looking horrible aswell.
I think one of the best reasons for a woman not to have a tattoo is because you don't look feminine and sophisticated anymore. Have you ever seen a woman wearing an off the shoulder wedding dress, covered in tweety pie's, tiggers, flowers and winnie the pooh's? It looked disgusting, they were all over her arms and shoulders. You may go through a phase where you think it looks nice, but when you get older and you have kids, you may be embarrassed.
I think if a woman wants a tattoo she should put it where she can hide it, like on her lower back or stomach. I think women that have tattoos on their legs, arms or shoulders are stupid. They may go for jobs in the future where they have to cover them up, you can see them in strapless wedding dresses (when you're trying to look you're most pure, innocent and demure), some men find them a big turn off and people will tend to judge you for the rest of your life.
Tattoos are too permanent a fashion accessory, because thats all they are - a fashion accessory. Find a cheaper, less painful, less permanent way to express yourself.
Buy a new bag, get a new wardrobe, cut your hair! Just think of all the other options before you commit yourself to a tattoo. I know an 18 year old boy who had a big dragon on his arm, it got infected, it looked deformed, he had to have it lasered off (which really hurts) and it still hasn't completely gone. Lasering is very expensive and isn't always effective.

I have loads of them & I personally wouldn't judge people by their tattoos.
We are pigeon holed as either bikers, troublemakers or thugs, but people of all walks of life have them. Some show them off, some cover them up.
My advice for anyone considering getting one is;
1) Think long & hard about what you want done - a band name would mean nothing in 30 years time!!!
2) Pick a repetable tattooist - one that clean & sterile.
3) Think about where you want it on your body. Your forearm may be a great place when your 19, but when your in your 40's and have to give a presentation on a hot summers day, it's not ideal is it?
Just some things to think about there..... :-)

I have nothing against people with tattoos , I personally have none and never would. They may look okay now, but I am yet to see an old person with a nice tattoo.

I think they are cool as long as they are a reasonable expression of something that means something to you. I have a 2" fully bloomed rose w/ a couple petals falling from it. It's on my right shoulder on the muscle in between my shoulderblade & spine. I have it cause my name is Rose. I'm thinking of getting another. I saw a small tribal design with a heart in the middle of it but I'm going to put a music note inside the heart cause music is an important part of my life. I'm currently trying to figure out where to put it so that I can hide it for work (no tattoos!) AND where it won't hurt as much. hahaha.

Most tattoos look odd.
As a Hypocrite, I have to say that I have a piece of wheat tattooed on my back. It was meant to be growing out of my **** cleavage, but the guy wouldn't go there.
It means something to me alone.
Swallows on the neck are awful
don't get me started on those celtic knots....

I would never have one but I see them as a great way to express yourself. My Papa Mac had one where he told Grannie he loved her and I was fascinated with it. When people design their own tattoos again the sense of expression must be exhilarating. I hope there is no regret.

I don't have the balls to get one, but I think that tattoos can be a great form of expression if they are done tastefully. I think that covering your entire body with them is kinda gross, and I would never do that or date anyone with a full body piece because it seems they are trying to hide something rather than express themselves.

I adore tattoos on men. I currently have two. The mask from Phantom of the Opera with a rose and then a pair of wings on my back.
