Trick question, because you can never, I don't believe, make a decision that you would know 100% you would NEVER have any regrets. Other than that, given that we can not know down the line what we may come to regret, our God-given concious should be our guide as to what path we take. It's like I have taught my daughters: if you have to ask yourself should I or shouldn't I, the answer is already NO! When things are right, you don't even have to ask yourself!

Bassibassi,
I agree with almost all the above, there are a multitude of guiding forces in everyday decision making, religious, experience, indifference, etc...But for me I have to say I have never made the wrong decision in my life...I have made bad decisions, oh yeah!, painful, regretful, you bet, but not wrong because I have learned something from all of them right or wrong. You will never make all the right decisions but you have to give yourself "permission to fail". Knowing that you do your best in the situation and you will be a better person in the long run, especially if you have made some 'bad' decisions in the past.

Decision-making is not only a process of conscious thoughts and motivations; sub-conscious processes are also enjoined. We are all programmed to a certain extent, like it or not, and some of our "decisions" are not exclusively ours at all - I believe that we often regret, and indeed don`t understand some of the decisions we make due to these underlying processes.

God's words are the best to guide you through all decision-makings and can never make you regret.

Motivation is that I'll never regret it anyway no matter what the end result will be. My labor and I really honor it...One desision leads to another, and so on...what to regret? There won't be a time when I will be free of desision making....so better to extract joy from the process and make desisions out of joy, not out of painful deliberations....

I partially agree with the first person; some of it is only by chance. However, there are some that you will have no regret at all. I guess what motivates me are intelligence, conscience, and pure animal instinct.

Some people turn to the bible or other religious book, others close their eyes and visualise the outcome of each different decision.
Some just use eeny-meeny-miney-mo!
The trick is to never have any regrets. Do your best and learn from your mistakes.
And NEVER be too proud to admit when things go wrong.
