I think that it is ridiculous that everyone is focusing on his remarks about Jews and completely ignoring the fact that he was driving drunk. Driving drunk kills people. Saying something about a group of people can ruffle some feathers but their lives go on. It's time to focus on the bigger issue.

Mr. Gibson is an alcoholic, a boor, a braggert, and a vicious anti-semite. He has several prior drunk driving convictions. (one in Toronto, Canada) Twice before, the Malibu Police department allowed Mr. Gibson to go free when he was cought driving drunk and was speeding. (he has been a contributor ot several of Chief Baca's charities, & this may explain their leniency). The arresting officer was ordered to edit his report in order to delete the anti-semitic remarks Mr. Gibson repeatedly threatened the arresting officer. He made a sexist slur to a female officer. It is fortunate that www.tmz.com got a copy of of the policeman's transcript, and published it.The department's conduct will soon be examined by a quasi-judicial overseeing regulatory body. All the comments were tape recorded, (from before the arrest to the end of Mr. Gibson's beligerant conduct) and there is extensive police station video footage of Mr. Gibson's words and behaviour.
It should be noted that nowhere in Mr. Gibson's apology did he direct that apology to the Jewish people, religion, nor Jewish-American citizens.
He was suspected of being an antisemite long before he directed and produced the biased movie "The Passion of Christ". Nor has he condemned his religious-fanatic father's regular assertions that the holocaust either did not happen or is grossly exaggerated.
Mr. Gibson's career in show business is in meltdown mode. And there is absolutely no question that he is a virulent, vicious, biggot. (that suspicion has been confirmed).
My sympathies to the citizens of Malibu, California. Mr. Gibson "owns" Malibu, at least he thinks so. (a good place to avoid from now on).
In summary, Mr. Gibson was driving while drunk. He had a blood alcohol reading of 1.3, where the legal limit is 0.08 and he was stopped speeding after driving 140 kilometers per hour in a 70 kilometer zone. He subjected several police officers to repeated racial and sexist verbal abuse and threats, and he tried to escape custody after being arrested

If all the reports are true I would say his arrest is long overdue. Just because he is a movie star or someone famous should not make him any different in the eyes of the law. There is also the saying 'in vino veritas' meaning you usually tell the truth when you have had too much to drink, so all the apologies in the world will not change the anti-semitic views he shouted at the arresting police.

Drink Driving is bad enough. But Racism too. And he is supposed to be a Catholic Christian Role Model?

This is a bit like Rodney King in reverse?

Mel Gibson said "All the Wars in the World are the Fault of the Jews and Israel." This is the same Anti-Semitic rubbish that GOOD CATHOLIC ADOLF HITLER spouted.

He is an Anti-Semite Bigot who got away with it for far too long. Hutton Gibson his father is a well known Anti Semite BIgot and Holocaust Denier member of Catholic sect OPUS DEI.

Mel Gibson is even starting to take on an uncanny resemblence to Mad Bad Saddam Hussein - Just look at the picture on www.tmz.com.

And Mel Gibson has the chutzpah to make a mini series on the Holocaust.

Alcohol is obviously a good Truth serum.

PS If Mel Gibson aired similar views about African Americans, Chinese or Muslims EVERYONE would be outraged.

D P I was sad to hear you say "who cares - what do you think of black people getting pulled over because of our color"

I care just as much about Black people getting pulled over - for Racist Reasons - as Chinese, Koreans, Jews, Muslims or Whites.

People should NOT be pulled over on the grounds of their Race, Religion or Color.

People should ONLY be pulled over if they are driving dangerously or drink driving which threatens the lives of innocent people - without regard to Race, Religion or Color.

If you DON'T CARE about and IGNORE Racism to one Group - then ALL groups are open to Bigotry and Racism.

D P, I hope that ALL BRUVVAS and SISTAS UNITE on this issue - Only APATHY CAN ALLOW BIGOTS and RACISTS TO WIN.

PPS Zack X you are a sad lying Anti-Semitic scumbag.

I am DISGUSTED at all you LATENT Anti-Semitic and Racist Apologists on this site who have FAILED to CONDEMN Mel Gibson for his Disgraceful Behaviour and Outburst. He is supposed to be a Catholic ROLE MODEL and "devout" Catholic and Christian - but has displayed nothing but HATRED.

By saying Nothing and "Turning a Blind Eye" you ALL condone his behaviour, beliefs and ideas. This is exactly what happened in NAZI GERMANY. BAD THINGS HAPPEN WHEN GOOD PEOPLE SAY AND DO NOTHING.

SHAME ON ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE FAILED TO CONDEMN MEL GIBSON.

PPPS Izzieere are you Lauren in Disguise (Catherine Tate Show UKTV & BBC Comedy)???

Everybody makes mistakes, and a mistake is even easier to make if you are in the limelight as Mr. Gibson is. It seems he is having to live up to his role he plays as an actor. The pressure on him is beyond comprehension by the average person. He cannot even go outside his house without being under scrutiny and followed everywhere he goes. If I had his standards to live up to, then I would get drunk too. What I think in general is; people ought to leave him alone, and let him carry on his life without being put under a microscope for each and every thing he does.

He's right. Jews do start wars. Jews (especially Israelis) do control the US media. Even Jews complain that the US media slant on Israel is very rightwing and biased in favor of Israel. The anti-Mel articles I've seen so far have been anonymously written, which suggests to me it's the Israelis or Zionists who are behind it. Do you know that Israel is now trying to extradite Mel? Clearly they have a huge axe to grind with him. So, I say, more power to Mel. I don't agree with everything he says, but he is the victim here.

Did Mel Gibson communicate out adversarial to inebriated using or something? i do not recognize why you're calling him a hypocrite. yet commonly, sure, i love it at the same time as hypocrites (and different kinds of persons i will't stand) get their merely deserts.

For someone who is religious he should have realised he could have taken a life that night.

Having said that, I really like Mel and wish him the best of luck.

His movie shouldn't have been called the Passion
It should have been called the passout

He is not the first to do it and I'm sure he won't be the last. There are more important topics to report about than Mel and his DUI charge.

Does anyone care? He lost his cool when he did that crappy accent in Braveheart, was quite good in Ransom, then he's just been a nobody. I don't give two hoots about anything that he does outside of the film industry.
