The violence could be stopped right now if the US called for an immediate cease-fire, but it's unlikely that they will. This could be a ploy to lure Syria and Iran into a much bigger war. However, the message should be clear to everyone. The US, against the wishes of all other governments except for Israel, are giving diplomatic cover and speed delivering more weapons to Israel. Israel also has to answer for the thousands of Lebanese and Palestinian people, it has kidnapped and kept imprisoned without charges. Does anyone know that a Palestinian doctor and his son were kidnapped by Israeli forces in Gaza a day before the kidnapping of an Israeli soldier? Legally, esp. if there were any international law enforcement mechanisms, it is a more serious crime to kidnap civilians than a soldier in a occupied zone. Does Israel have to right to kill people who are not attacking them? Does Hezbollah have the right to kill people who are not attacking them? An Israeli soldier said that most Lebanese who had been killed lived in Hezbollah-controlled areas and that they should have lived in better places. The same could have been said about the Jews, dead and those awaiting death, in Warsaw back in 1943. Occupation is the problem.

Jews were uprooted several times from their home land since olden times. Jesus Christ was a Jew and was killed by Romans who ironically founded Catholism based on his principles.
The whole world is not really straight.
Compare Lebanon-Israel problem as some hooligans throwing stones at your house every once a while. Thatis called living in a very bad neighbourhood.
If you are week, you would leave and go and the hooligans would occupy your house.
But if you happen to be strong, you would do just that what Israeles are doing now.
Remember all the Arabs enjoy and celebrate at the loss of every Jew killed by Arabs and they make lot of noise when some Arabs get killed by Jews in war.
It's not that the Arabs care abot innocent people dying. Because if they do, you would have heard the same rally's and violent demonstrations everywhere when 100's of Arabs are dying every day in Iraq by their infighting. They don't care. You would never see demonstrations, condemnations, violent rallys when 50,00 inocent Hindus have been killed in the last 20 years in Kashmir by terrorists, Train bomb in Bombay killing more than 200 people.
Have you heard any Muslim voice from any country. Nio!!
So you understand, its their inherent hatred about anything related to Jews, Americans and non-muslims.
So what's going on in Lebanan is the same thing what's going on in different parts of the worls--different flavours of conflicts between Islamists and civilized people.

Yes: It seems to me that we have created a monster. Who seems to be having a field day creating his own "Shock and Awe" on the innocent people of Lebanon. He's looking more and more like "Adolph" Olmert. Even his body gestures on the BBC news today.
Attack and kill your enemies - not innocent children and certainly not to terrorize an entire population of a country who has not declared war against you and expect that they will love you.
They seem to be perplexed how the Lebanese can now support Hezzbolah. Did they think that destroying the lives and the country of the Lebanese who are not Hezzbollah would win them popular support in Lebanon? Olmert needs to get himself under control and find out how to mend fences.

Israel is wrong, Hezbollah is wrong.
The killing of innocents is never right.
As far as the roots of the conflict, if innocents weren't involved, I think Israel would be more in the wrong, but really, it would be the western nations and specifically the UN in the wrong. The land that makes up Israel shouldn't have been taken from Palestine in the first place, if anything they should have been given part of Germany as reparation. If that had happened I don't think we would be worrying about Arab terrorists now at all.

What exactly is being defended by the violence in Gaza and Lebanon? Is it the citizens of Israel or the nature of the Israeli state? I suggest the latter. Israel's statehood is based on an unjust ideology which causes indignity and suffering for those who are classified as non-Jewish by either a religious or ethnic test. To hide this primordial immorality, Israel fosters an image of victimhood. Provoking violence, consciously or unconsciously, against which one must defend oneself is a key feature of the victim-mentality. By perpetuating such a tragic cycle, Israel is a terrorist state like no other.

I think the Lebanese sanctioned Hezbollah Terrorist Organization began the war by attacking and taking 2 Israeli soldiers that were on their own soil.
I think that the Hezbollah are using their own civilians, innocent Muslim civilians as human Shields. Hiding their weapons in their homes, mosques, schools etc. They dress like civilians so the Israeli's don't know which is which.
The Israeli army is only doing what is has to do to protect their people and land, in the light of what Hezbollah is doing. The Muslim Fanatics don't care who they kill, us or their own. They only want to kill ANYONE who does not believe the way they believe.
The only way to win the war on terrorism is to fight them on their terms, which unfortunately means the deaths of many innocent Muslims.
Why is it SO hard for people to understand this?
