Prob yes, they would die. Chemicals in dye would most likely drop your PH level and damage your biological filter as well.
If you want to "change" the color of your tank, try adding different colored aquarium gravel or rocks instead. They also make different backgrounds you can tape to the back of your tank too.
Or..you can get different colored lights for your aquarium hood.
dont mess with your water chemistry if its working fine...you'll save yourself alot of grief.

Put them in a different cage or something when you dye the water. Then wait a day or two and put the fish back in. Then they won't turn colors or get hurt. If you don't wait at least 24 hours then it will harm the fish by going in it's gills or mouth. So that is why you should wait at least 24 hours so the coloring can settle.

I wouldn't reccomend it. Small amounts would most likely be non lethal to your fish, but depending on the dye it could alter the PH. Also your carbon filter would likely remove it.
PS- If you want your water blue. Methylene blue is safe and effective at preventing disease.

Zombielove is right, get a colored bulb for your reflector. It is much safer and you won't have to do a complete water change and start all over if you want to change back or to a different color.

my suggestions are don't do it. you will kill your fish, cause extreme damage to your filter system, and stain everything in your aquarium. if you want to change the color try changing your background, gravel or even the light.

probably kill the fishes. It is a chemical that the fish would not be accustomed to. Plus it would damage your filtering system.
