Ok, so he got drunk, drove and said some stuff about Jews. Let's think about this for a minute why he said those things........HE WAS DRUNK!!!! I love the jews very much, they are the best, but come on people say crazy things every day. He makes the movie "Passion of the Christ" and the world thinks he's out to get the Jews. Gibson wanted to create a movie on the passion of our Lord and he can't help that God lived among the Jews. Also we point our hand at him because he's a Catholic! America makes fun of the Catholics every day and the CatholicS could care less. They go on with their lives and pray for those poeple. Why can't the Jews do the same! and America!
I think that we should let him off the hook and give him a break!

He deserves as much of a chance as Robert Downey Jr, Betty Ford, Kitty Dukakis, Winona Ryder, Keith Richards or Kate Moss have been given...

I think he is a good guy still. People make mistakes. They is not saying I agree with what he did and said. Drinking and driving is terrible and there shouldnt be special treatment for some who do it. The punishment should be strict for all.

I dont kow why people hate other like that. Whether he meant it about the Jews or not, to say things like that even when you are drunk still means it was inside of you just hidden.

You know the saying.. the real truth and the real you come out when you are drunk

I think the media has taken this story out of proportion....I really think that Mel Gibson is a regular guy who made a mistake got caught drunk driving on PCH and while there insulted a police officer. I don't think the media should protray this MAN like this. Sure people get drunk all the time and say things they don't mean. Besides I never see my neighbor who insults people while drunk on the six o'clock news. GIVE MEL A BREAK

Yeah, I agree with you. I still think he is a good guy, no matter what. When you're drunk you do or say a lot of stupid things, that you didn't mean to say or do. I don't think the things he said about people being jews was a good thing, but since he apologized I forgive him.

I think he is still a good guy. We all have our mistakes we have made and the media just keeps this in the spotlight.
To me, I wish it didn't matter what religion/faith you have, if you are a good person that treats others well then they should treat you the same.
The DUI is unfortunate but it is the law, and I agree with that law because it is an attempt to save lives (although there are many people with way too many offenses still driving.) If this is his first offense then make him pay the normal penalty and move on!

Would all these people be saying what a good guy he was if he had run head on into a car and killed a family? He knew he was drunk and drove anyway. I hope they take away his license. He is a nasty anti-Semite and a pig to the female cop. He was lucky he was picked up by the police before he killed someone and maybe himself driving intoxicated.

"What's said when drunk is thought out beforehand."

His dad's a holocaust denier (that is, he claims it never happened and the Jews just made it up to get pity and Israel). That's what Gibson was raised with. A good guy? Well, I don't know him, but it does appear that he's a big ol' bigot.

Oh, and you know he's Austalian, not American, right?

I have personally witnessed friends and family saying things and doing things "under the influence" that were totally out of character for them. Alcohol directly affects the brain and behavior, and for some people - not in a good way. Unless you've NEVER said anything inappropriate in your life, I'd say ease up on the judgment.

He is a good guy. He has stuggled with alcohol for a long time. He was busted in Canada long ago too for driving drunk.

His remarks were some out of drunkeness. They say that wine brings truth but too much brings just stupid anger.

He is ok, just needs to get control of his issue.

Everyone has done something regretable in their life.

Unfortunately, folks in the limelight such as Mel, are watched
24/7, so they cant even break wind without offending someone,
let along actually get crocked and spout off in anger now and then.. He just should have blown off steam in private.
So, I'd suggest one simple thing.. Dont drink to excess, but if you do, do it in private..
Anyone can act like a horse's *** if they've had too much to drink. (Uhhh, Like this is a new thing??? )
;)

Mel gave an immediate apology, and hopefully learned his lesson. I dont think he deserves a forever shun for one bad day. He's done a lot of good things too. "To er is human...."
So slap his wrist, tell him he was a bad toad, then give him a hug.

A man who tells the stories of good men such as William Wallace and of course, our savior, is one with a good heart in my book.
