In the 60s, a group of anonymous musicians, who claimed to be famous pop stars, made a record and promised to reveal their identities if the record got to number 1 in the charts. The record flopped. Anyone know who they were ?.

They were called The Masked Marauders. No one knows who they were, but my guess is they weren't famous and it all was a publicity stunt.
