i love horses and I do ride western but I hate it. I prefer English. I dont knwo why. I used to love them both equally but now I just hate western I think that it is the people at the shows. I swear to you that Western people are 10,000 more stuck up, rude, and snobby than English riders. Give me a Dressage Queen andy day, or even a Hunt Seat Princess. But dont make me deal with the western people. I look at all of their clothing which is extravagant and falshy and sometimes REALLY tacky with their belt buckles the size of Texas and earrings the size of Rhode Island. Their horse is trained into the ground and does not move his head, barely moves his feet, and makes it 3 times around the arena in a 15 minute class. I will tell you that when i still showed western, I had my grey Arabian gelding showing against Quarter Horses, Paints, Palominos, etc, all of the big western breeds. I placed extremely high all the time because I was showing when we really started to get away from the "peanut roller" That is the type of horse that the judge wants to see. something that moves and doesnt drag his head on the ground. My horse was a little fast but it still didnt matter. I prefer English because it is much more relaxing on you knees and ankles and I LOVE jumping and dressage. I can stay in an English saddle better than I can a western, which is weird. I think I know why western people are so miserable- their clothes. For one, it is hot in the summer and they are wearing jeans that are thick under 50 pounds of leather chaps, and their shirts dont breathe and they get headaches from looking at all the bright colors!

(This was meant to make ppl laugh not meant to REALLY slam the Western community. I do feel much more hatred towrd them than i let on. That hatred comes from the ppl that Ishowed against who were snobs because they had spent thousands of dollars training their horses and then they placed high every time. It is kind of funny to note that I beat most of them almost every time. A little cross training with a horse that is your perfect match beats out professional training almost any day!)

I owned horses for many years...quarter horses, a TB...rode showdeos, western pleasure, trail rides, gave lessons, boarded horses and trained some...I miss it a lot...rode western most of the time, but I had an aussie saddle that ROCKED and was the most comfortable thing I'd ever sat in...but I was never into English riding...

Enjoy!
