If you HATE it, and are just going to make your friends feel better, make them pay your way in, and spend your time on other types of rides. Also, a lot of people go for the arcade. It's not my thing; I LOVE roller coasters and that feeling you are talking about. But that feeling never goes away no matter how long you've been riding. So I wouldn't call it a fear; more so a distaste. Just don't get on one. There have to be other things there you can at least tolerate. Good luck.

Due to your panic disorder and high blood pressure I strongly advise you NOT to ride a roller coaster of any magnitude. Recently at Sea World Orlando, a mother and daughter had to be taken to the hospital after having a panic attack and passing out on the ride Kraken (as far as I know they recovered). People have died from having such disorders and riding a ride.

I always notice those signs that say those with high blood pressure should avoid riding certain rides. I'm not sure if risking your health is that important for getting on a certain ride. There are other things you can do at the amusement park besides riding the rollercoasters. If you still want to give it a try, do what my father did to my sisters and I when we were younger. He started us off on the smallest and we worked are way up. Also, I watched on a show that if you clench your stomach muscles the same way you would do a sit-up it will help alleviate the "butterflies" you feel in your stomach.

Hi Kelly. I too still have an intense fear of heights. I found when I approach my fear, I make sure my comfort is taken care of first. Such as, "I'm strapped in damn tight, this is gonna be over real soon, and I just might enjoy it." And I did, start big, you'll feel like a million dollars. If you start small, you're gonna give yourself a panic attack by the anticipation of getting to the big coaster. Good Luck..............Do it...Do it.....

I don't have high blood or anything but it scares the crap out of me to think about getting on one. I feel like I'm going to have an anxiety attack, so if I feel like that just thinking about riding I stay off. I know it's not as fun as riding with everyone else, especially when my 10 yr. old stepson will go on one before I will but what do you do? Last year I finally worked up my courage to ride the Tennessee Tornado at Dollywood (twice) and loved it, but I'll probably never be able to ride it again. I just don't like the hills, but I love the loops. I know, that's weird. But anyway, I'd be careful riding stuff like that with high blood pressure.

Maybe you could just start out by riding the smallest one in the park. As soon as you sit down in the car, close your eyes and dont open them until it stops. Then maybe ride it again and try and open your eyes. You are missing out on a lot of fun. I love roller coasters.
Good luck!

If you have high blood pressure, then you should not ride rollercoasters...There have been lots of recent stories of people(even kids) with health problems dying because they go on these intense rides. Pay attention to the warnings, they are there for a reason.

people generally ride roller coasters because they like to not because they feel like they should like them. but my experience has always been that roller coasters are more fun when you're scared. i had so much more fun when i first started riding them. but try the smallest roller coaster in the park first.
